The Comforter’s Zone

God takes us out of our comfort zone, so that we can step into the Comforters’ zone.

Jesus said in John 14:26-27 KJV “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.

There are things God calls us to do that may seem almost terrifying to us because it’s out of our norm or out of character for us. We may hesitate and try to talk our way out of God’s nudgings because we don’t feel confident to do them, but can I tell you what? When God’s Holy Spirit is stirred in us, you can take it to the bank that He’ll give us everything we need (and then some) to accomplish what He has set before us.

The very first time I was called to preach I was a wreck. I was second guessing my message, I was concerned I didn’t have enough material, but most of all I was fearful of speaking what I thought and not what God wanted me to. Turned out that while I was speaking, God filled my mouth with things I didn’t think about while preparing. I learned very quickly that it wasn’t just me, but God working through me. So I now take great comfort and peace in knowing that.

When we submit ourselves to Him, our confidence level goes into overdrive as we depend upon and trust the Comforter to place us into His zone, and empower us to do what we need to do for His purpose and glory. Stepping out of our comfort zone takes a leap of faith, but our reward is not self-satisfaction, but joy in God being active in our lives so that we may impact others for His purpose.
