Happy Pentecost Sunday, which is celebrated today! There are many write ups and commentaries about what Pentecost Sunday is or was, but not many about what it means and the promise behind it. It is not something that just happened to the New Testament church, but is still ongoing today and I know first hand. So I know Pentecost is not just an event in history but an experience. It is what Jesus promised and is part of His-story and His legacy. Being this is a very condensed blog on this, let me know your thoughts and experiences.
This is a rundown of just some what Jesus, Peter, Jude, and the Apostle Paul said about the coming and experience of the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit).
…wait for the promise of the Father (Acts 1:4)
…whom the Father will send in My name (John 14:26)
…this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel (Acts 2:16)
…He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire (Matthew 3:11, Luke 3:16)
…He shall give you another Comforter, …abide with you for ever; …He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16-17)
…you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8)
…the Spirit also helps our infirmities: … the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered… He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-17)
…building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20)
…He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26)
…He will guide you into all truth (John 16:13)
…be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49)
Jesus spent the last portion of His life before the Cross teaching the disciples about the Holy Ghost and to anticipate His coming. He stressed it because the Holy Ghost is vital to the believer. He empowers us to become witnesses for Christ. Helps us with intercession and prayer. Comforts us. Teaches us and so much more.
The Promise of the Father is here! Hallelujah!
Blessings!
