Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
Psalm 40:5 NKJV
When people say, “their thoughts are with us”, it is a very good thing but it can be shallow. I am not saying that to be mean, as they do have a concern, but there are no intended actions to really help. Even I have said this as an act of sympathy and concern, but still felt like I could do more. We shouldn’t feel bad at all though, but our resources and time are limited and we can only do so much.
But when God’s, “thoughts” are with us, the translation for that word talks of plans, good advice, purpose… so His thoughts go much, much deeper. They are active thoughts, with intents behind His thoughts towards us, to equip us and carry us forward. To give us peace, hope, and a future (Ref. Jer. 29:11).
His power and purpose, with His unlimited love is included in His thoughts towards us. So when God says His thoughts are with us, it means that He is personally involved in our lives, has plans for us and the means to carry them out, and is there for us at all times and not just when time allows. His thoughts toward us are more than can be numbered.
Blessings!
