Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts 3:6 NKJV
We can talk about faith all day long, but it’s the action of faith that miracles come from. The man in this passage of Scripture that was healed was over forty years old and was laid at the gate of the temple daily. Peter had to have seen him constantly and probably said a quiet prayer occasionally. He may have given him money a few times. But this time something was different in Peter’s faith. He didn’t just feel sorry but took action in a different way. His faith was challenged, and wasn’t just lukewarm but on fire. He felt in His Spirit a rising that he acted on.
Now I know that praying for someone and expecting an instant miracle is controversial now days, but for Peter it was the norm for over 3 years of his life when He walked with Jesus, and then followed Peter throughout his ministry. It took great faith on Peter’s part to reach out to the lame man and KNOW that he would arise. It’s not the prayer that heals, it’s the faith in Jesus’ name. It’s just our job to be obedient to His leading.
Blessings!
