A New Song

The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. Ex. 15:2

Have you ever heard a new song and couldn’t seem to get enough of it? You just keep playing it over and over and over…. and just when you thought you were burnt out on it, it comes alive again. Some of us still get excited about songs we first heard 40 years ago, and even though they are old and our grand-kids listen to them now, the newness never seems to fade. There is just some special ingredient they mixed in with the song to make it addicting, which touches us on some kind of emotional level.

Some may know that many, many years ago I traded in all my old music. That’s because the main ingredient that first captured me just didn’t move me any more. I discovered “a new song” (a music genre) that moved me like nothing else. It wasn’t because of extremely talented vocal artists or musicians, even though many are, but there was a new ingredient that was mixed in that I’ve never experienced before, the presence of God.

“He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God” Ps. 40:3. And I will be singing it for an eternity!

Blessings!
Elder Steve Smith
